The start of a new year is a natural time for self reflection. But let's be real: We have to power to choose when to implement small, positive lifestyle changes. February, here we come!
It is important, of course, to set reasonable and measurable goals. If your resolutions are too general (e.g.: I want to sleep better) the likelihood of you following them is lower if you are specific (e.g.: I will turn off electronics 30 minutes before I want to fall asleep).
Here are a handful of ideas that you might want to consider incorporating into your New Month Resolutions! These are intentionally general so you can customize these ideas to your needs - get creative!
Incorporate meditation into your routine a couple days of the week. Our team here LOVES Calm (paid) and Insight Timer (free).
Improve your flexibility using yin yoga or yang yoga.
Start a new hobby or do a deep dive into a topic that you have always been curious about
Listen to a new interesting podcast! You can start with this awesome list of podcasts catered to swimmers and swimming fans.
Break a personal record! (Easier said than done, we know. But commit yourself! Set a specific goal!)
Prioritize getting 7-9 hours of sleep.
Start every morning with a healthy breakfast.
Create a stretch routine for before and after every training session and practice.
Take a walk in the great outdoors once a week.
Replace unhealthy snacks with healthier alternatives (even just a few times a week).
These are just a few suggestions to get you thinking, and we can't wait to see what you come up with. Make this your best day, month, year yet!
